Day 1: 3rd Sep 2025: A Grand Beginning in Nairobi – Where Grace Meets the Wild

Nairobi

  • The capital of Nairobi is East Africa's most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place to be. There are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum and most notably, just 20 minutes from the city centre, wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve.

  • You shall be met and assisted through customs and immigrations

Day 2: 4th Sep 2025: Welcome to the Wild – Your Safari Begins at Kichwa Tembo

Breakfast

  • In the Hotel at Cafe Villa Rosa from 0700hrs to 0900hrs

Departure from the Hotel at 0930hrs

  • Transfer to Wilson Airport for flight to Maasai Mara Departing at 1100hrs to arrive at 1145hrs
  • Mara North Conservancy: Situated in southwest Kenya, the Mara North Conservancy is a beautiful private wilderness area spanning more than 30000 hectares. It is home to a spectacular array of plants, reptiles, birds and mammals; including elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other migratory wildlife. Leopard Gorge, in the heart of the conservancy, is famous as the setting of countless BBC Big Cat Diaries and National Geographic documentaries. Neighbouring the well-known Maasai Mara National Reserve, this conservancy is vital for sustaining the famous Serengeti wildebeest migrations as well as the endangered African wild dog and black rhino.

  • andBeyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp is situated in the Kichwa Tembo private concession, which neighbours the Maasai Mara National Reserve. In addition to the excellent year-round concentration of wildlife, Kichwa Tembo lies directly in the path of Africa’s spectacular Great Migration. The camp boasts 26 Superior Tents and 8 Superior View Tents. While all the tents look out onto the open grasslands or the shady forest surrounding the Saparingo River, the Superior View Tents boast exceptionally beautiful, uninterrupted views of the Maasai Mara. The generously sized swimming pool is set among the trees and surrounded by lush lawns and spectacular views. Opening up onto incredible Maasai Mara views, the guest areas feature a double-story bar and lounge area with oversized windows offering spectacular panoramas. The dining area surrounds an interactive kitchen and vegetable garden, making food an integral part of the safari experience.

Day 3: 5th Sep 2025: Soar with the Sunrise – A Balloon Ride Over the Mara

Hot Air Baloon

  • 0500hrs: Drive you to the launch site. You will arrive at the launch site by 0600hrs, and can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while you watch the balloons being prepared for take-off. You will then meet your pilot, who will give you a safety briefing as well as explain what you can expect during your flight. There are basic toilet facilities available at the launch site.
  • You will then be loaded into your balloon basket for take-off just before sunrise, at about 0630hrs. The flight will last approximately one hour, depending on wind conditions, and the balloon will land between 0730hrs and 0745hrs.
  • Upon landing, you can observe the complete deflation of the balloon envelope. Our vehicles will then transport you a short distance to breakfast.
  • Our breakfast is set up on the picturesque savannah plains of the Mara, typically under the shade of a single acacia tree. You will sit down to a full bush breakfast in the Kenyan style, complete with eggs-to-order, fresh juices, waiters in traditional Swahili attire, and, of course, champagne.
  • During breakfast, you can also peruse the photos your pilot has taken during the flight, and decide whether you would like to purchase the photos, or any of the other Hot Air Safaris merchandise on display.
  • After breakfast, at about 0900hrs, you will have a game drive back to your camp or lodge. Depending on what you find along the way, the game drive usually takes about one and a half hours. The drivers are all experienced safari guides who have attained their “bronze” level guiding certificate from the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association. The drivers have also undertaken strict in-house training to ensure the safety and enjoyment of your game drive.
  • By 1030hrs you should be back at your camp, already reliving the memories of the morning’s flight.

Sundowner at 1800hrs

  • Sip on an ice cold gin and tonic, a sparkling glass of champagne or your favourite cocktail as the dusk gently deepens around you and the sun sinks slowly over a classical safari landscape. The evening sounds of the African bush will slowly quieten as the plains species seek shelter for the night and the predators begin to prepare for their nocturnal hunts.
